CARMEN GARCIA, Colombia (AP) Two divers died and a third is missing in Colombia after their scuba boat capsized in a storm, officials said.
Colombia’s state news agency reported Sunday that two divers, whose bodies were recovered, were missing and the fourth was still missing, without providing further details.
The boat capsulated at about 9:40 p.m. local time (11:40 a.m., GMT) near the small town of Carabobo, near the border with Colombia, the U.S. Embassy said.
A U.N. rescue boat pulled the divers out, but they were unable to be revived.
They were buried at sea.
The Associated Press could not immediately independently confirm the identities of the divers.
Colombia has suffered heavy rain this month, and the government says the storm is the worst since a catastrophic droughts of 2004 and 2010.
In 2012, the death toll from flooding climbed to more than 3,500, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The government says it is searching for the missing divers and has set up a team of experts to help search for survivors.
