Colombia’s airbnb platform is preparing to launch, a Colombian official told Bloomberg.
Colombia’s Airbnb has already been launched in Colombia, and the country is currently looking for investors to help fund the company, Colombia’s Minister of Tourism, Tourism and Culture Rafael Lopez de Melo told Bloomberg Businessweek.
The Colombian government will be working with the company to set up the platform, and a launch will take place on March 31.
Colombian Airbnb is currently in a legal battle with the Colombian government over the legality of its hosts.
Colombia has a history of cracking down on Airbnb hosts who do not abide by local regulations.
In February, the Colombian legislature passed legislation that makes it illegal to advertise and sell property to people living in a foreign country illegally.
Airbnb is also fighting an attempt by the government to impose restrictions on the company’s service in the country.
