CARTAGENA, Colombia — Hilton Hotels announced Tuesday it would not honor any of its customers who are infected with the Zika virus.
The company said it is taking the steps necessary to protect its guests and staff from the virus, which is spreading in the Americas and Europe.
Hilton said its travel advisory is effective immediately.
It said its decision was based on a thorough review of the scientific data and on the medical and health needs of its guests.
The news came as Colombia’s president on Tuesday canceled a planned visit to the U.S. for a summit with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on the eve of the Olympics.
